- Resumen
- Xochicalco was first mentioned in the fifteenth century and research was done from then until 1909, when Leopoldo Batres organized the first scientific archaeological dig. Since then, many researchers have made contributions to the history of Xochicalco; the most important research was done from 1992 to 1994, when information enabling the site museum to be built was uncovered. The architectural style of the site, such as its sloping and straight walls, suggests that the residents of Xochicalco were descendants of those of Teotihuacan. Its heritage of architecture, astronomy, engineering, and artwork makes Xochicalco an exceptional place and evidences its relationship with Epiclassic period sites such as Cacaxtla, Teotenango, Cholula, Monte Albán, El Tajín, and La Quemada.
